Do I need any circus experience?

Not at all! Many of our classes are suitable for complete beginners, and you don’t need a background in circus, gymnastics or dance to get started.Our instructors will help you work at an appropriate level and build skills progressively. Some sessions are designed for particular ages, abilities or experience levels, so please check the individual class description when booking.

What should I wear to a circus class?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Leggings, joggers, fitted sportswear and T-shirts are all good choices.For aerial activities, we recommend clothing that covers the backs of the knees and your waist to help protect your skin from the equipment. Layers are also recommended for covering arms when needed. Avoid loose-fitting and baggy clothing, as it can catch on or get wrapped in or around equipment.Please avoid clothing with zips, buckles, studs or anything sharp that could catch on or damage circus equipment.Long hair should be tied back, and jewellery, watches, and other items that could catch should be removed before training.You’ll usually train barefoot or in socks depending on the activity — no special circus shoes needed!

What should I bring with me?

Bring yourself, comfortable clothes and a willingness to give things a go!We provide the circus equipment needed for your session. We also provide free drinking water for participants, although you’re very welcome to bring your own water bottle.There’s a free tea and coffee station for parents/carers, and we keep a small supply of emergency snacks available for those occasional moments when someone needs a little extra energy.If you use any medication you may need during the session, please bring it with you and make sure we have the relevant information.

Do I need to be strong, fit or flexible?

Absolutely not. You come to circus to develop those things — you don't need to arrive with them!Circus training can help build strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, confidence and body awareness over time.Everyone starts somewhere, and our instructors will adapt activities appropriately wherever possible.

What happens at my first class?

Your instructor will welcome you, introduce you to the space and explain anything you need to know before you start.Sessions vary by class, but usually include a warm-up, followed by structured skill development and time working on activities or equipment appropriate to that session.There’s no expectation that you already know what you’re doing — that’s what we're here for!
