Assist, Coach & Build a Career
For students who discover they want circus to become more than a hobby, we offer genuine pathways into assisting, coaching, further training and professional development.
Our structured Assistant & Coach Programme allows young people to gain practical experience, develop responsibility and build towards recognised training and paid coaching opportunities.
We also support students considering degree-level and professional circus training, helping them prepare for their next steps and connect with opportunities beyond Nottingham Circus Arts.
Circus careers can begin at different ages and take many different forms. There is no single route — just opportunities to discover where yours could lead.
Perform & Develop
For those who want to take their training further, we create opportunities to perform, explore new disciplines and develop beyond regular sessions.
From performance projects and showcases to specialist workshops, intensives and opportunities with other circus organisations, students can challenge themselves, gain experience and discover new possibilities.
There’s no pressure to perform — but for those who want to, the opportunity is there.
Learn & Progress
Every circus journey is different. Our student programme gives children and young people a clear way to recognise their progress while allowing them to develop at their own pace.
Through Discover → Explore → Develop → Progress → Advanced → Circus Artist, students can build skills across different disciplines, celebrate individual achievements and see how far they've come.
Progress isn't about racing through levels or comparing yourself with somebody else. It's about learning, growing in confidence and being proud of your own achievements.

Creating Opportunities Through Partnership
Our connections with circus organisations, charities and community partners play an important part in what we do. These relationships help us create wider opportunities, share knowledge and expertise, support access to circus for those who may face barriers, and connect students with experiences and pathways beyond our own space. They also allow us to work alongside organisations with shared values, learn from others within the sector and contribute to projects that reach the wider community. As Nottingham Circus Arts continues to develop, we want to strengthen the relationships we already have while building new partnerships that create even more opportunities for the people we support.
